Robin Berke Santoro
I worked at BBHS from 1983 to 1990 as a guidance counselor with Jewel Kahn. Some of you may remember me; I had the second half of the alphabet. I loved working at Blind Brook and have such fond memories of those years and all the people - students and staff and parents. One year, the faculty was preparing to sing The Twelve Days of Christmas for a holiday concert. Never being one to feel comfortable singing in public (not even "Happy Birthday"), I approached this with great trepidation. I will never forget George Trautwein "auditioning" me and deciding that I was not tone deaf after all (I still think I am), and he gave me the line, "Five Golden Rings". Oh, how we practiced that line! And I got to sing it over and over again. I was just telling someone this story at a party Saturday night, not quite two weeks ago. Just a couple of days later, I learned that George had died. I am loving reading all the tributes on this page. Oh, how very many lives he has touched. Sing on, everyone... sing out loud!
