Janet Storck

Janet Storck

George was my friend, not my teacher. George's partner, Michael, was my teacher at Irvington High School and many of your observations about George could just as easily be written about Michael - except the part about throwing chairs. Michael was always more of a foot stamper. Then, Michael was a mentor. Now, he is one of my dearest friends.

During the past 35+ years, it has been my pleasure getting to know George. Whether we were working on a show at the Irvington Town Hall Theater, sharing a meal or just exchanging a wink and a giggle, George always had a story, a clever observation or an acerbic comment. I truly appreciated and loved his slightly wicked streak.

The last time I saw George was at the end of January. He was staying in an assisted living facility while Michael was closing their winter home in Florida. I brought him his favorite junk food and we talked and gossiped and laughed for a while. It was a really good day.

I miss George and my heart is overflowing with sadness for Michael's loss. But, if there is a brighter side, I know I am a better person for having known them both.
