Pat Campbell

Pat Campbell

I never had any interest in going on facebook until last week when my two sons (Scott and Craig Bierko) told me about the many tributes pouring in,after hearing about the death of George Trautwein.
I knew two things: I needed to see what was being said, and i needed to say something myself.

In all those years did we as parents truly appreciate what an amazing person and teacher George was, and what a profound effect he would have on our children?

I especially remember Carousel, Brigadoon, Little Mary Sunshine and the Pirates of Penzance. I also remember there were as many students on that little stage in the LGI as there were people in the audience. George just made a point of involving everyone.

He demanded total discipline, commitment to the job at hand, teamwork and responsible behavior... and along with that, everyone seemed to be having a really good time.

During the years that my two sons were at BBHS, our family was going through a very difficult time. George made sure we all knew he was always just a phone call away.

Of course we will go on, but hopefully before we do, we will take the time to reflect and remember this very special person that truly inspired our children, and gave many of them their first appreciation of culture in the arts.

I will remember George Trautwein as a warm and loyal friend, who made a difference in our lives, and I am very grateful to him for giving my two sons the determination and the courage to follow their dreams.
