Mr. Miller,
I've forwarded your column about Mr. Trautwein to our e-mail list of 1964 graduates of Goldsboro (NC) High School. (Many of them do not Facebook, so this is the best way to let them know.)

As I read your column, I thought about how he coaxed sound out of this terrified sophomore chorus voice in "The Pirates of Penzance." (I still know the entire score and have seen it twice on Broadway.) The next year I moved from Mixed Chorus into Journalism class since I was far better at being editor of the high school paper than singing Gilbert and Sullivan.

But I never forgot his teaching and can still see the raised eyebrow and the open mouth as he coached us before we started singing. You did a beautiful job of capturing his essence in your story. Thank you for doing that.
