Mr. Trautwein, I have said his name many times today, thinking about and talking about how we lost our favorite high school teacher this weekend. Although I may not have realized it at the time, he was a teacher like no other. He taught me to try my hardest, believe in myself, and have fun doing it. He was tough at times, but often enough that was what I needed. The work ethic that he had has stayed with me throughout my years at school and in my career. I work at a high school now, and as I look at my students I wonder how Mr. Trautwein was able to get so many students so focused on song and dance. He was able to bring us all together, motivate and direct us to create beautiful art. I couldn’t wait to go to practice each day, whether it was practice for the school play, rehearsing songs to sing abroad, or getting ready for the holiday season singing Christmas carols. He was truly a gift, and my wish would be for every young student to have such a positive influence and an incredible person in their lives.
