Lisa Sharkey

Lisa Sharkey

Having been cast in The Apple Tree by Mr. Trautwein was the defining experience of my time at BBHS, as well as singing in the choir, in particular Handel's Hallelujah Chorus. At our reunion a few years back, I was so happy to see him, but so sad for his physical condition. I held his shaking hands, and thanked him for supporting and understanding me, and told him about my life and my career, and why I decided to graduate high school when I did, one year early. He told me he remembered that I was very sad as a teenager and that he was thrilled that I had turned my life around and that he always believed in me. I will never forget him or that conversation. RIP.

does anyone have any photos from The Apple Tree or Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Raincoat, and if so please post them. I believe those were among the first Mr. Trautwein productions at BBHS. As I have spent this day reading these beautiful posts and recalling my brief time with this stellar teacher I remember that my first college major was voice, and specifically opera, because he gave me the confidence that I was capable of anything. While I never became a singer and changed my major I remember with bittersweetness those duets from Porgy and Bess and from Don Giovanni that we all loved. He was one of a kind.
