Laurie Salzman Gersten
The lord bless you and ke-ep you.... Since learning the news of Uncle Trauty's passing, I have struggled to find the words to express what a profound impact this man had on my life. Even 25 years later, a smile comes to my face when I think of him and all the things he helped me to experience (1st time in Europe, North Carolina and performing in a show to name a few) He believed in me and helped me to believe in myself and after reading post upon post I learned I was not alone. I can only hope and pray that someone along the way let him know...May he rest in peace knowing he was loved, cherished and revered by many.

Laurie, many of us have had the opportunity over the years to let him know exactly that, and in typical Trauty style, he would always wave his hand and pretend that it was all just so unimpressive, anyone could have done it. But we know otherwise, and he definitely heard from so many of us that he was an angel. While he never would have acknowledged it himself, I know he felt the love and appreciation. I am eager to share that love and appreciation with Michael when he is ready... many people from BBHS didn't know Michael, but he was similarly profoundly influential on his students and those he directed in community theaters and beyond. They were an inspired and inspiring team and I have no doubt that their lives were fundamentally built on their mutual devotion. How could they each have devoted so much time and energy to all of us otherwise? Thank you for sharing your thoughts here.
