Lorie Lewis

Lorie Lewis

Of all the beautiful songs we sang, I keep singing "Now Is The Month of Maying(?)" What's that about? Oh Mr. Trautwein...how we all love you! Did you have any idea that you would have such a profound impact on the lives of all these students? Did you know that so many of us would shape our lives and careers around what you taught us? Did you have any clue that you weren't just teaching us to sing and love music, but you were shaping our characters and drawing out our souls? I'm thinking that you didn't know at all... until now. And that's what makes it all so beautiful. A person who simply loves and cares for others so passionately and selflessly isn't thinking about outcome, but rather the moments...each moment that is so precious with potential. That was your gift. You met each and every one of us where we were, but you clearly saw a vision of the very best that we could become. Then, you cared enough to make us believe that we might actually get there. What a blessing you were and continue to be in our lives. You will be in my heart well into my coupon-clipping years and beyond. :) I will forever be inspired by you as I work with youth in my community. I will be grateful to you always. Thank you dear Uncle Trauty. I believe you lived the most fruitful life of anyone I've ever known. We go on! And so do you. ♥

I raise my glass, along with many dear friends around the country, to Mr. Trautwein...a man who taught us all the beauty of harmony on so many levels. Even in this moment, he joins us as one. I love you Mr. Trautwein ♥
