Jodi Kopitz Kashmann

Jodi Kopitz Kashmann

I was in BBHS from 1980 to 1984. My brother is 12 years older and went to Mamaroneck HS. My Mom must have been in on that somehow to alleviate the carpool situation! If she were here today, I'm sure she would have lots of stories about how BB opened. My sister Debby graduated in '79, and as a result, I was also "Debby" to most of the teachers. I looked like her and nobody could see me as Jodi! Peck and Doris most of all. I'm sure that was a compliment. But my sister was never in choir so Trauty called me by the name he gave me, "Jodie Dodie". He never said it in a low voice either, it was always very LOUD!! Choir was always comfortable and fun to go to, even though it was after school. I loved singing, although my voice was not the best! I met some of my most special friends in choir, friends I will always cherish even if we don't speak as much. You all know who you are!!

My dress from Little Mary Sunshine got used more than once. I always felt loved by the "older" boys!! It was especially fun when I was asked to be part of a Halloween gig at BBHS as Strawberry Shortcake. I was to put on my Little Mary Sunshine Dress and the Mask given to me by Craig and Joe and Kevin and the Jims and run around the school screaming while these three handsome upper classmen followed me, some as superheroes, some as demons. It was so much fun!! There was a telephone booth involved too.

I remember fondly being called the "girl that looked through rose colored glasses" by one of these upperclassman too!! wow.

The plays were all so much fun and each of us were made to feel important no matter what our role was. Even after graduating from BB, i used to go back and visit often to see the teachers, Mrs. Granville included!! I always snuck in to the LGI to see Trauty and listen a little to what was going on that year. He was always so happy to see me and made sure to announce to the class who I was, Jodie Dodie.

I saved all of my music too. I have every song. I must admit I have sat at my piano playing and singing my part (when nobody else was around).

Reading all of these beautiful memories as brought me back to my teen years with such warmth and love. I miss those days! I love my Husband of 15 years and my 2 beautiful boys with all my heart and know that those four years helped shape me into the person I am today and Trauty had so much to do with that. I never kept in touch with him, but always, always thought of him.

Thank you all for the wonderful memories. Matt, your spot and article were wonderful and all the pictures from everyone are too. Love to you all, and may our memories always live on in our hearts and pass on to our families hearts as well!!

xoxo Jodie Dodie

The shows in my BBHS years of 1980 to 1984 (wow, we really are getting old!) were Little Mary Sunshine, Pirates of Penzance, Guys and Dolls, and the Talent Show. I remember all of them and could probably recite the words to each song until this day! I too have ALL of my music in my folder (mine was red). I went to Italy and Carolina with Trauty. I remember sneaking onto the beach with Pete in Carolina and i know Trauty knew we did it too! LOL....Such memories, all of them good. When I say "Rude, Crude and Unattractive" to my kids they look at me like I'm nuts, but I just laugh! He was just the best.

To Mr. Shortliffe, You too made a huge impression on all of us and that should not go unnoticed. I wrote poetry and was an editor in college thanks to you. I will always remember you as one of my very best teachers and you were a huge presence in that school. Thanks for all you do!!
