What to say, I have been reading these posts and laughing. Funny, had been thinking a lot about GT these past few weeks. Talking to my mom about him. My son is an 8th grader at Blind Brook MS. We were talking about his high school classes for next year and he does not want to take chorus anymore. Of course I told him that would have never have happened when I was at Blind Brook!! It's kind of sad how the students today don't really understand what a power house the music dept. was back then. When Trautwein and Cialfi ruled. It would be great if we could do something to make the Rye Brook community understand what an impact one larger than life man had on so many of us. Both on and off stage.
I remember how he tortured me about the Reno Sweeney role. With that glint in his eye, he would torment me about whether or not I would get the role, and there were so many other girls who were auditioning and could possibly play Reno. Oh that man!!!!!! He loved to tell me about his time in NC, and how Terrance Mann, or Terry, as he called him, was a student of his. knowing perfectly well, that to me Terrance Mann's voice can melt butter!

George was very important in helping a very lost little girl not wander to far away.

"Heaven knows, anything goes!"

When I decided to go to school to major in French Horn, Mr. Trautwein always told me I was making a mistake. He knew my passion was for musical theater. Well, he was right. After one year I transferred schools and became a vocal performance major. Not that I did anything with it, but the passion is still there.
